Il quarantesimo anniversario del terremoto che ha sconvolto il Friuli nel 1976, è stata l’occasione per una riflessione generale sulla letteratura – in particolare friulana, romena e delle Americhe – relativa al terremoto. Nell’affrontare il lutto, il dolore, essa trova significato stimolando la ricerca della verità e ricorrendo alla ‘resilienza’ messa in atto dalle vittime. Proprio come alcuni materiali capaci di resistere agli urti senza spezzarsi, l’individuo è in grado di superare l’evento negativo e la discontinuità dei sistemi dinamici trasformando la crisi in opportunità e in speranza per il futuro.

Resilience and hope: from the reality of earthquakes to the literature of earthquakes

The fortieth anniversary of the earthquake that overwhelmed the Friuli in 1976 provided an opportunity for a general reflection on the literature of earthquakes – in particular, literature from the Friuli, Romania and the Americas. Facing grief and sorrow, this literature asserts itself by stimulating a search for the truth and by celebrating the ‘resilience’ of the victims. Just like certain materials that can withstand blows without breaking, the individual manages to survive the disastrous event by transforming the crisis into an opportunity and into hope for the future.
