Abstract
Spaghetti, Ravioli and the Wheel of Tereré
This essay aims at gauging the impact of Italian Cuisine in Paraguay and the extent of its influence in transforming the country's culinary habits. Divided in two parts, it first identifies the socio-economic background that facilitated such a penetration, moving on to analyze various literary works by some of the major Paraguayan writers of the twentieth century that contain explicit food references.
